What to study after 10th and 12th

DIPLOMA COURSE IN ENGINEERING:

Courses taught in polytechnic colleges are engineering degree courses. To get admission in polytechnic course one must have passed 10th standard and have studied mathematics and science subjects in 10th standard. Also, those who have studied Vocational Section in 12th Class and have studied Mathematics as a subject and those who have studied Mathematics Section are eligible to join the Polytechnic College directly in the second year.

PRE SEA TRAINING (GENERAL PURPOSE RATING)

The basic qualification required for this course is to complete 10th standard for entry into basic jobs in the shipping industry. Must have secured at least 40% marks in English, Mathematics and Science subjects. Maximum age should be less than 25 years. Tamil Nadu Government Maritime Training Institute offers this course. Its head office is located at Nandanam, Chennai and the training institute is located at Thoothukudi. This course is of six months duration. Notification for admission of students in this training will be published in newspapers from time to time. Those who complete this course can join ships in deck side jobs and engine side jobs as seaman i.e. SEAMAN.

 

It is to be noted that private educational institutes approved by the Directorate of Shipping also provide this training. For those who complete this type of training, a CDC (CONTINUOUS DISCHARGE CERTIFICATE) like Pass Port will be issued by the Director General of Docks on behalf of the Government of India. Only holders of this CDC can serve on board. It applies to all categories of workers, officers, engineers and cooks working on board. Students joining private training institutes for this training should make sure that the training institute is approved by the Director of Shipping. Otherwise CDC will not be provided to them. VESSEL NAVIGATOR COURSE - 2 Years.

This is also a course for joining Junior Technical Officer in fishing vessel. A number of techniques can be read about in the section on launching a fishing vessel. To join this course the minimum educational qualification is 10th pass with minimum 50% marks. Should be between 16 to 20 years. SC and ST students can apply upto 25 years of age. 48 students are admitted in this course every year. For this, the entrance exam will be conducted at the All India level. Selected students will be trained at CIFNET institutes in Kochi, Visakhapatnam and Chennai. The training period is 24 months. Selected students will be given a stipend of Rs 1500 per month. Those who complete this course will be awarded a certificate for National Vocational Training by the Central Government's Department of Employment and Training. It is an ITI. MARINE FITTER COURSE - 2 Years.

To join this course also the basic educational qualification should be 10th standard with 50% marks. Other Eligibility The eligibility for 24 months study is fixed as mentioned above. This course is a mechanical course in the handling and installation of machinery and technical equipment in fishing vessels. Those who complete this course can also work on a fishing vessel. Students of this course will also get a stipend of Rs 1500 per month. This is also the I.T.I. It is a type of study.

ITI or Technical Courses is a certificate course in Engineering. These types of courses provide an opportunity to study in a short period of time and get a job easily. There is no tuition fee for studying in government and government aided vocational training institutes (ITI). Yes you can read it for free.
